You might be wondering what to wear. For my High School senior clients, I've found that three outfits typically is the perfect amount for your session time. Usually, it is nice to have one more formal or dressier look and two casual looks. I keep a Pinterest board of senior fashion ideas for your inspiration here.
First and foremost, choose clothes that make you feel good. You don't want to be tugging on a too tight skirt or scratching that cute, but really itchy sweater the whole time. If you aren't comfortable, it will show in your images. Fashion is great, but just make sure you feel good in it. I encourage you to be yourself.
- Bring a few options to make three distinct outfits. I can help you make final selections if you aren’t sure. Don’t forget to personalize your look with your own accessories like jewelry, scarves, hats, or anything that makes it truly you.
- Please make sure you clothes are clean, and wrinkle free. I suggest ironing clothes and keeping them on hangers to keep them looking fresh.
- Bring along one solid white and solid black shirt. If I think any of your clothing options may not look as flattering on camera as in person, those extras will give us options to mix up your wardrobe. We may not use everything you bring, but having options will up help me make you look your best.
Feel free to wear whatever shoes you want, but we will be walking around to various shooting spots, so my suggestion is to bring comfy shoes to walk around in from location to location and put on the cute (but not so great for walking) shoes at our shooting spot.
For ladies, I also recommend you bring at least one pair of heels. Heels are very flattering for photos and you won’t be sorry you have them.
A fresh and clean manicure is recommended. I pose with hands in the frame and around the face and neck, so you nails will show in the images. I'm a fan of a nude nail color for ladies who don't wear nail polish usually and this helps keep the focus on you, not your nails. Other colors can add a nice pop of color, just be aware that color can draw your attention in a photo.
Hair & Makeup
I am in contact with several talented hair stylists and makeup artists in the Peoria area to get you pampered and camera ready for your sessions. I highly recommend hair and makeup for your session because a professional makeup application is miles beyond photoshop and I rarely need to retouch people with a professional makeup application. There is a difference in doing your makeup for camera over your everyday look. These ladies know how to bring out the best in your natural beauty without making you feel or look like someone you are not. You will feel beautiful and ready to shine in front of camera. It really completes the model-for-a-day experience. Most salons offer a finished hair style or makeup application or I can put in touch with one of the licensed professionals I've worked with, who are accustomed to doing hair and makeup for photography.
