When good friends ask me to take a few portaits of them for their business, I'm happy to oblige. David Vernon, who is a great friend and equally great landscape and portrait photographer, asked me for some headshots and portraits, I was happy to help out. He graciously shot some images of a very pregnant me over the summer, so it was the least I could do to return the favor. Check out his work here.

His wife came along and helped out by running the lights for us this day. I normally shoot the bulk of my work with natural light, but Dave does some great portrait work with flash and we wanted his shots to look like the same work seen on his site, so we shot these the Dave way and boy am I glad we did. It was a typical Central Illinois winter day. Grey. Grey as far as the eye can see. Blah! So, a little warm light and you've got instant sunshine! I'm so glad his wife came along and stood in the cold wind with us. She made all the difference in the world.  So, check out these shots and then go check out Dave's work too.
