Aside from doing portrait work, I like to shoot for myself for the enjoyment of it as well as gain some fine art photographs. But, what you may not know is that I participate in a group of local photographers, the Peoria Flickr Group. We share ideas, techniques, and experiences with each other. We also go on monthly to semi-monthly group outings in the area. Our most recent group outing was to Wildlife Prairie State Park where we got the opportunity to photograph some raptors up close and personal. Their handlers brought them outside and held them at arm's length while telling us all about the species and why they were at the park. It was an amazing experience to get so close to these birds that are rarely seen, and if they are, from a great distance. I think the owls were my favorite to photograph with these large expressive eyes and faces. A big thank you to Tim Lester Images for arranging this for us. If you are a local amature or professional shooter, please feel free to check us out on Flickr and join in the fun.
Here a are a few of my favorite shots from this outing.
